Fox Hunters Paradise Shoot

Fox Hunters Paradise has become one of my favorite spots on the Blue Ridge Parkway to visit, and it only takes me about 30 minutes to reach these amazing views. Becky, and I had been planning to go to the Parkway when the leaves started turning colors. I had a day that I wasn’t going to be busy on, and so we went for it. It turned out to be cold, foggy, and a little windy, but it was such a fun day.

One of my loves is helping others who want to learn photography. I don’t feel threatened by it, I encourage it. Anytime I get the chance to help someone who wants to learn, I take it.

Her son Nathan, wanted to be in all the images with her which was so precious. I am not a family photographer, but I just couldn’t resist shooting some images with this cutie. 🙂

He also wanted to become adventurous, and try to climb the rock wall.

I love these little hidden moments.

Though She Be Little

Though she be but little, she is fierce – Shakespeare

Though She Be Little

Keep your chin up my fellow boss lady. I know it seems hard today, but tomorrow you will look back on this time, and be grateful for this journey. You are fierce. Show them what you are made of.

A Beautiful Park Day.

Busy season is upon us, and there always seems like there is an endless to-do list. As entrepreneurs we think that if we push it 24/7, and never take a break, that we are being productive. That could not be further from the truth. When you push yourself like that, you are more likely to suffer burn outs, and they will be frequent too. Trust me, I am the number 1 culprit of the push-myself-until-I-burn-out club.

So today, where ever you are, or whatever you are doing, just press pause. Press pause for just a few minutes, or an hour or two, and step outside. Take in the fresh air, the beautiful sunshine hitting your face, and take in that gentle breeze that’s blowing just right. All your worries will just seem to melt away for a couple of hours, and you will honestly be amazed at how clearly you will be able to think, and how much more productive you will be.

Speaking of getting outside, I wanted to share with you some images I took at our local park. It was too beautiful of a day not to get out and photograph. 🙂

Westfield North Carolina Fall Portraits

Fortunately for me, I live at the foothills of the mountains, and only 20-30 minutes away from the Blueridge Parkway. So during the fall time you can get the most beautiful portraits of the leaves changing colors, and the sun setting behind them. The orange leaves look like they are on fire when the sun sets. It’s so beautiful.

I had first went to the Blueridge Parkway after I had a long day at work, and I wanted to just relax. So I escaped up to Virginia for just a little bit, and it was the best decision.

Then on a beautiful Sunday afternoon, I photographed around my house. I am so blessed to live where I do.

Look at how beautiful these colors are at their peak. God is an amazing artist, and gives us such beautiful things to look at in every season.

Yet another reason for me to love fall is the fashion. Give me a sweater, leggings, and combat boots, and I have everything I need. Of course this is also my attire in the winter as well. 🙂

Tell Your Story || Composite Photography vs. Portrait Sessions

Can you really be multi-passionate, and run a successful business? I think the answer is: YES! Composite photography has been a love of mine for years.

What’s composite photography?

Composite photography is taking different images, and combining them to create something other worldly, or to tell a specific story.

I love helping women to feel strong, beautiful, and confident, but I also love being a story-teller. When it comes to working with people I want to tell their story. What they like, dislike, how people met, what they’re feeling in the moment, and more.

When I do personal work, I love to expand on stories that have already been told, re-create them in a new way, or create my own stories that have a purpose, and/or a moral to them.

A few examples of my recent composite photography work are shown down below:

‘Winter’s Fire’ was inspired by Lordes’ song, “Yellow Flicker Beat”

Winters FireI was just inspired by the snow fall around me to create the work you see below. I wanted to express that even in the dead of winter, something beautiful can be born.

Fear Simulations and Knife Throwing || Divergent Photo Series

Hello! I hope you are enjoying the Divergent Series so far.

The Knife Throwing Scene was a little tricky to do. There is so much Tris is thinking about in this scene, and I am not a professional actress. I do try to bring some depth to the characters I portray though.

Isn’t that amazing? That just by looking at an image, you could come up with about 1,000 different things that this person could be thinking, or saying.

Kife Throwing Scene Divergent“I hold my breath as he turns the last knife in his hand. I see a glint in his eyes as he pulls his arm back, and lets the knife fly. It comes straight at me, spinning, blade over handle. My body goes rigid. This time, when it hits the board, my ear stings, and blood tickles my skin. I touch my ear. He nicked it.” Excerpt from the book)

Reflection || Divergent || The Photo Series

Good morning my lovelies! Today I released, “Reflection”. Tris lives in Abnegation, and they keep their mirrors hidden so they won’t be tempted to turn to vanity. They want to care more about helping others than themselves. But every 3 months they are allowed to get their hair trimmed, and take a glance at themselves in the mirror.

And today just happens to be the day of the Choosing Ceremony. These are her emotions as she glances at herself in the mirror.

Tris Prior || Divergent

“I sneak a look at my reflection when she isn’t paying attention—not for the sake of vanity, but out of curiosity. A lot can happen to a person’s appearance in three months.
In my reflection, I see a narrow face, wide round eyes, and a long nose— I still look like a girl, though sometime in the last few months I turned sixteen.

Divergent: The Photo Series || Release Day!

The day is finally here! The Divergent Photo Series is being released.

Every day this week you will see a brand new photo, and at the end of the week I will be hosting a give-a-way! It’s going to be a lot of fun.

For the first image, I wanted the tattoo to be a little more in focus. I want the blurriness, the mood to convey what Tris is feeling, and thinking about at this moment.

Tris Prior

“No, I was wrong; I didn’t jump off the roof because I wanted to be like the Dauntless. I jumped because I was already like them. I wanted to acknowledge a part of myself that Abnegation demanded that I hide.” (Excerpt from the book)

Divergent Series: Update || New Fears, and Failures

Hello lovelies! I know this post is a little late tonight, but I wanted to update you on what’s going on with the Divergent shoot. I have to be honest. I am so scared about this project.

I’ve never had one this big, and on-going before. So many fears are racing through my head right now: Will it be good enough? Will people think this is a major failure? Will nobody look at all? I still have so much to do, and shoot in such a short amount of time, but I am going to be in deep prayer about it all.
